Millennials (defined as a person reaching young adulthood in the early 21st century) look for key aspects when booking a getaway in the UK; such as quality of the WiFi and mobile phone service, does the site have a hot tub or additional luxury leisure facilities, does the site itself follow a contemporary design (is it better than their own homes), is the decor instagrammable and finally location.
Many millennials won’t look at the photos on your website, they head to Instagram or popular blogging websites to see what other people have been snapping on their visit – so it is vital that your socials are up to scratch! Social media photographs and reviews often overtake the humble review. I know in my personal opinion (I’m 28) if I was booking a holiday, I would first check their Instagram page, above and before the companies own website, to see what their imagery was like. I’d then check the location tag to see who else has stayed here, what do their photos/experience look like and make a informed decision based on what I see. I’d then check the website for facilities and extras such as WiFi, dining options, leisure facilities and so forth. With millennials often having quite a large amount of disposable income, and aren’t afraid of splashing out on holidays, it’s important we treat them as a big player when creating targeted advertising and marketing campaigns.
